Longleng, March 7 (MExN): The Longleng District Planning and Development Board set up a verification committee for the Local Area Development Programmes (LADP) for 49 Tamlu and 50 Longleng Assembly Constituencies during its meeting on March 6.
According to a report from the state DIPR, the meeting also cleared various agendas for the district including the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive, advocacy campaign for elimination of Tuberculosis and the State Health and Family Welfare Minister’s proposed visit from March 8 to 12.
As per the report, CMO Longleng Dr Obangjungla briefed the house on the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive and said that the district has achieved the highest percentage of coverage compared to other districts. She also informed the schedule for the 2nd phase of vaccination for health care workers in the district headquarter and blocks.
The CMO informed that a Medical Board for service confirmation of government employees would be held on March 16. Further stating that Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom would visit the district from March 8 to 12, she invited all the HoDs to accompany the minister who will be inaugurating health centers and other activities in the district.
According to the DIPR, Dr Temsu, MO of Longleng District Hospital spoke on the advocacy campaign for elimination of Tuberculosis in India by the year 2025. He asserted that TB is one of the major public health problems in the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s TB elimination initiative is five years ahead of the global time line of 2030.
Appealing the members to be a part of TB elimination campaign Dr Temsu highlighted that the government of India provides every citizen free diagnosis, free drugs and free treatment for TB in government health centers along with financial incentives for patients and treatment supporters as well. He therefore, urged the members to raise awareness on TB and sensitise their respective communities on the facilities provided by the Government.
Earlier, DC Longleng M Shayung Phom and EAC Pichano Kikon acknowledged the board members for their financial contribution towards the bridge construction over the Dikhu River between Mongtikang and Salulamang. The EAC also briefed the house on the ‘surprise checking’ conducted in all the Government offices in the district headquarter on February 25, the DIPR stated.
