Committee to monitor COVID-19 related activities during bye-election

Kohima, October 21 (MExN): The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima has issued an order stating that in light of the conduct of the bye-election to the 14 Southern Angami I (ST) AC during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in order to ensure all election related activities are in compliance of the various guidelines on COVID-19 issued by the Election Commission of India and the State Government, a committee has been constituted.

The committee constitutes: ADC HQ Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa– 9436070607 as Convenor; SDO(C) Jakhama & RO 14th Southern Angami-I A/C, Ruopfükuotuo Noudi-  8731815626 as Member; EAC Kohima & ARO of 14 Southern Angami-I A/C, Abeinuo Jasmine Ashao– 9774062871 as Member Secretary and other members included  Dy. SP (Reserve), Soriso Quinker– 9862088998; AEO Kohima, Toshimeren Aier– 9436001957; District Health Officer for Bye- Election, Dr. Rubert Peseyie -  9402810551; Sub-Divisional Health Officer for bye-election, Ethungbemo Ezung– 9615088075 and DPRO Kohima, Ruopfülenuo H. Mepfhüo-  9366765874.

The order further stated that the committee shall be responsible to supervise and monitor all COVID-19 related activities and shall also work out modalities for implementation of the same during the entire election period.

Khuochiezie requisitioned for vehicles
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima Mohammed Ali Shihab A has issued press release stating that Khuochiezie, (Local Ground) Kohima is requisitioned for parking and deployment of vehicles engaged for the conduct of bye-election to the 14 Southern Angami I Assembly Constituency 2020 from October 26 onwards till November 10. In this connection, no activities and applications for allotment of the Local Ground Kohima will be entertained for the above said period.

District contact centre set up 
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mohammed Ali Shihab A IAS has informed the political parties, candidates and general public that for election related matters in connection with the bye-election to the 14 Southern Angami I (ST) AC, a District Contact Centre with toll free number - 1950 has been set up in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima.

Public notified on incidents of bribe 
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima Mohammed Ali Shihab A, IAS has informed general public that any offer of cash, liquor, gift items or free food to the electors during election process is bribe. He added that both the persons, offering and accepting such bribes are liable for punishment with imprisonment up to one year and fine.

He further informed that Flying Squads and Surveillance Teams have been formed to keep watch over such activities and to check movement of items meant for inducement of electors, during election process.  The DC has appealed that any member of public may inform such incidents of bribe to the Control Room No. 0370- 2290226 or toll free District Contact Centre 0370-2291285.
