Dimapur, November 23 (MExN): The department of Youth Resources & Sports is organizing a district-level competition on various events from folk/traditional activities to guitar recitals. Scheduled for December 8, from 10am in Dimapur Town Hall, the competition will cover folk dances, folk songs, guitar recitals and elocution (Extempore). Interested cultural troupes and individuals may submit their details latest by December 5 to Megolhu Dolie, DSO of Dimapur or Lima, Supervisor. In folk dance, the maximum participants should be twenty. It should be duration of 15 minutes. Three copies of a brief note on the theme are required. Pre-recorded music shall not be allowed. In folk songs, a maximum of ten singers is allowed. The song should be an Indian song or any other regional language. In this category no film songs shall be allowed. The maximum time allowed for each folk song is seven minutes. In guitar recital category, no electric guitars will be allowed. The maximum time allotted for the recital is ten minutes. Participants may bring their own instruments. The recital item should be presented in Indian or Western music forms. Judging will be based on the qualities of rhythm, coherence, technique, discipline, command on the instrument, overall impression etc. In elocution, the language will be either in Hindi or English only. Each participant will be given a maximum of four minutes for presentation. Verdict will be passed on the clarity of speech, flow and continuance. Participants for these competition items should be aged from/between 18-35 years. No TA/DA will be given. There will be cash prizes and certificate for the winners. The winners will represent the district in the state-level competition which has been scheduled from December 13 to the 14th at Kohima. Refreshments will be served after the event.
