Condolences, tributes pour in for Temjen Toy

Dimapur, January 29 (MExN): The demise of State Chief Secretary Tali Temjen Toy on January 28 evening was widely condoled by civil society organisations, political parties and individuals across the state.

G Kaito Aye: In a condolence message on Friday, Nagaland Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation G Kaito Aye eulogized Temjen Toy as “one of the most dynamic, energetic and upright officers among the bureaucratic hierarchy in the Government of Nagaland.” Recalling his association with the late bureaucrat, the minister stated that Toy’s dedication to any given responsibility was praiseworthy. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family stating that his demise is a great loss not only to the Government of Nagaland but everybody he worked with and provided services to, during his eventful time in service. 

Ex-PAN: The Ex Parliamentary Association Nagaland remembered Temjen Toy as a humble and efficient government servant, dedicated to his work and his family. “In his demise we have lost a very dedicated and an efficient administrator which is a great loss to the Nagas. May the Almighty God give comfort and solace to the bereaved family members,” it said in a condolence note.

NGBF: “He was very kind hearted and compassionate officer known to us. He was one of the top officers amongst the bureaucrats, a think-tank, and a backbone of Nagaland governing body,” the Nagaland Gaonbura Federation said on Friday. Stating that Nagaland has lost a great personality, the NGBF conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

ASTD: Stating that Temjen Toy has a profound record of service to the people of the state, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur stated that the Nagas have lost an eminent bureaucrat and an outstanding human being. “He was a rare gem of a leader who earned the love and admiration of the people for his thoughtfulness, sense of upright public service and sheer honesty,” it added.

On behalf of the Ao community in Dimapur, the ASTD conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the almighty God give them strength and peace. 

NPF: President of Naga People's Front Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, on behalf of the party rank and file stated that his demise had come as a shock to the Naga people as late Temjen Toy was not only a great administrator who held the highest position in the State Government but also an upright and humble statesman who dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the Naga people.

“His death was a great loss for the Government and the Naga people but his contribution towards the Government and the people will be always remembered,” Dr Liezietsu stated while conveying heartfelt condolences to the family members.

Thenucho: “I found him to be a sincere and trustworthy man. He was a composed administrator and tendered good counsel without hesitation or pretense,” stated former minister Thenucho Tunyi as he recalled his association with the departed bureaucrat and conveyed condolences to Toy’s family members. “A true administrator in every sense of the word, Temjen Toy was a man of humility who carried out his duties with dignity and confidence. In his death we have lost a noble soul,” he added.

NTC: The Nagaland Tribes Council remembered him as a man of integrity, a perfect bureaucrat and a gentleman who dealt with all situations with a smiling face. “His sudden death is an unimaginable loss to the Nagas as a whole and has created vacuum which is difficult to fill in,” the NTC said as it conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

NPP:  Stating that Temjen Toy was a man of rare acumen who possessed high quality of workmanship, quite courage, immense wisdom, and a beautiful soul, the Nagaland NPP rank and file offered prayers for the departed soul and moral support to his wife, children and bereaved family members.

“We pray that our God Almighty give you moral strength and spiritual courage to bear with this immense loss. May his great soul rest in eternal peace,” it added. 

14 Tribes: Mourning the demise of “one of the best administrators of our state,” the 14 Tribes stated that Temjen Toy was fully dedicated in his work and in the service to the people. “We are honored and privileged to have known a rare man of great caliber such as him,” it said, sharing their grief with the bereaved family and the people of Nagaland. 

CIHSR: The CIHSR (Referral Hospital) family mourned the demise of Temjen Toy who was also the President of the CIHSR Society as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nagaland.

Stating that he was actively involved in the development, growth and health of the Institute initially as the Commissioner Secretary, Health, then as Finance Commissioner and ultimately as Chief Secretary and President of the CIHSR Society, the Director and staff of CIHSR stated, “We are grateful beneficiaries of his administrative and leadership initiatives and supports.”

It is our prayer that our Almighty God will grant solace and comfort to his family members, particularly his wife, children and his parents, it added.

ENLU: The Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) stated that Temjen Toy was an officer par excellence who gave his brilliant mind and outstanding leadership to the Nagas. Adding that he was an inspiration to all government officials in Nagaland and a source of courage and strength to the State Cabinet, the ENLU prayed for peace for his family and loved ones. 

DAYO: The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation meanwhile stated that Temjen Toy was one of the most prolific, sincere, committed and hard working bureaucrats that Nagaland had been blessed with in recent years. “The simplicity, humility and dedication to his responsibilities have always been an exemplary to others,” it said. “…We celebrate the life of such a remarkable man who devoted his everything for the people of Nagaland and beyond. He will always be remembered for his conviction towards achieving goals and objectives both in his private life and during his prolific and illustrious career as an administrator,” it added. DAYO further stated that it had been privileged to be socially associated with him as an elder and as a mentor, and conveyed condolences to his wife Rouvi Toy and family. 

NCD: The Naga Council Dimapur stated that his immense contribution to the welfare of Nagaland will always be remembered. In a condolence note, it stated that Nagaland has lost a precious person, an ardent administrator, and a role model for the youth. “He will be remembered as the very friendly and popular person he was, for his strong conviction and sincere contribution in various capacities that he has served for the people of Nagaland,” it said as it conveyed condolences to his family and all the others who are grieving this significant and painful loss.

WCH: The Western Chakhesang Hoho lamented the loss of “a great person” who held high responsibilities as a top bureaucrat but remained accessible to all. May the Almighty grant him eternal peace and grant comfort and strength to all his near and dear ones, it added.

NCP: The Nationalist Congress Party stated that Temjen Toy was a humble, upright and dedicated government servant. “His death is a huge loss for the Government of Nagaland and the entire people of the state as a whole. Heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace,” it stated.

NGA: The Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) stated that Temjen Toy’s demise was a very big setback as he was a very close friend of the Gorkha community. “In his sad and unexpected passing away, the state has lost one of its most sincere, honest and very capable officer, and has created a big void which will be very hard to fill,” it said while conveying condolences to his family. 

Kuki Inpi Nagaland: “The departed leader has impeccable record in the service to humanity, giving his best for the upliftment of the society and the Nagaland populace during his lifetime,” the Kuki Inpi Nagaland stated in a message.

Stating that Toy had always stood for unity amongst the diverse tribal population and espoused the principle of coexistence, it said that his death was a great loss for the Naga people. “As we mourned his death, we also extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, near and dear ones,” it added. 

FONSESA: The Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Service Associations (FONSESA) recalled that the late bureaucrat was the administrative head of various engineering departments, and had exhibited exemplary scientific temper in all his understanding and dealings. “The progress and development of the State was always his first concern and priority, and all his actions were directed accordingly. This was one of his trade mark quality,” it said.

“In his untimely demise, we have indeed lost a man of sterling qualities,” it said while conveying condolences to the bereaved family. 

IRSCN: The Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland remembered Temjen Toy as “a good officer, a gentleman and a dynamic leader,” always supportive to the Red Cross Society. It joined the rest of the state in mourning his death and prayed that God grant comfort and solace to the bereaved family members in this hour of grief. 

NSCB: The management, officers and employees of the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd remembered its former chairperson as one of the pioneers in leading the Cooperative movement in the State and the Cooperative Bank.

Describing him as a public servant of sterling qualities and dedication, it expressed gratitude for his contributions during his tenure as Chairperson and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

Sumi Hoho: “In his demise, Nagas has lost a very prominent administrator. The vacuum created by his passing would be deeply felt and difficult to fill,” stated the Sumi Hoho as it conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. May the departed soul rest in peace, it added.

Naga Hoho: The Naga Hoho stated that Temjen Toy was a dedicated, sincere and a promising officer and above all a very humble person. “As an administrator, he had served the state and the Naga people in various capacities. His contributions for the welfare of the people will always be remembered. We have lost one of the finest souls,” it said while conveying condolences to the bereaved family members.

CANSSEA: The Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees’ Association (CANSSEA) described him as a humble, sincere, dedicated and upright bureaucrat. “He was an epitome of equality and justice. We have seen from his works and deeds that his mission was for the wellbeing of the people and the State. His selfless service towards humanity shall go down the annals of our history,” it said.

In this hour, it is our humble prayer to God to grant solace to the bereaved family, it added.

TPO: The Tenyimi Peoples' Organisation (TPO) stated that Nagaland has lost one of the finest bureaucrats the state has produced. Describing him as a humble, upright and sincere officer, it said that his amiable disposition ensured that he had a good rapport with everyone. The TPO prayed that God almighty will grant strength and solace to his wife, children and all kith and kin.

Kashiho Sangtam: Nagaland Minister in-charge of Geology & Mining and Soil & Water Conservation V Kashiho Sangtam stated that the ‘upright and dynamic bureaucrat’ was a man of strong character and it is a matter of huge loss for the people to lose a brilliant officer.  The minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them comfort and eternal solace for the departed soul.

Ao Legislators: The Ao Legislators, conveying condolences to the bereaved family of Temjen Toy stated that he was a hardworking, sincere and distinguished officer who brought laurels to the people of Nagaland. “The responsibilities assigned to him throughout the 32 years of honorable service have been a testament of his resilience and commitment to serve the people of Nagaland,” it said.

Recalling their association with Temjen Toy, it said that “His exemplary service and social involvement has brought our community in close association with the government and has strengthened the bond with the entire Naga community.”
We pray that the merciful God almighty will give strength to the bereaved family as we share the sorrow together, it added.
