Kiphire, February 23 (MExN): AICC Observer and Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, Ivan D’Souza, along with Thomas, PCC Observer and Spokesperson of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, toured Kiphire and Noklak districts on February 20 and 21.
During his visit, D’Souza said he came to Nagaland with clear directions from the All India Congress Committee under the “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan” programme, a decision taken at the Congress Working Committee meeting held in Ahmedabad. The main objective of the programme is to reach out to party workers at the grassroots level, listen to their views and reorganise district committees.
He informed that he visited both Noklak and Kiphire districts and met district office bearers, PCC members, working committee members and booth-level workers. He interacted with them to understand how the party could be reorganised and strengthened in the future.
According to a press release, party workers shared several suggestions, stating that the organisation must be strengthened at all levels and that proper resources should be provided. They also requested that senior leaders regularly visit block and district levels to encourage and motivate workers.
Suggestions were also put forward regarding the appointment of District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents. Many members expressed that those currently working sincerely should be re-appointed to continue their responsibilities.D’Souza also met the NPCC President and the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and discussed plans for reorganising the party in other districts. He said he would submit a detailed report to the AICC after collecting all necessary information from both districts.
He further stated that the Congress party stands for inclusive politics and works for the last person in society. True inclusive development, he said, means taking everyone together without leaving out any community. He emphasised that the party’s ideology is rooted in unity, equality and justice for all sections of society.
He added that the “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan” has already been successfully implemented in states such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi, where future leaders have been identified and organisational structures strengthened. During his visit to Nagaland, he also identified several potential leaders who could contribute to the party’s growth.
D’Souza expressed gratitude to Er Thomas for guiding and organising the meetings and thanked the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee for its support. He extended special thanks to Longtili C Sangtam, Vice Chairperson Social Media, NPCC and former General Secretary (Administration), DCC Kiphire, for providing updates and coverage during the visit.
