Mon, August 4 (MExN): The Nagaland state Forest department organised an awareness campaign programme for conservation and protection of forest and wildlife to mitigate human animal conflict and wildlife crime at the Forest Colony, Tizit on July 31.
During the programme, YM Jami, IFS, Conservator of Forests, Northern Territorial Circle, Mokokchung and Director, Intanki National Park, Dimapur highlighted the existing human elephant conflict prevalent in the area due to migratory elephants, moving between Assam and Nagaland. He appealed Village Councils to ban hunting throughout the area, not on seasonal basis.
Satya Prakash Tripathi, Chief Wildlife Warden, in his keynote address appealed to the people for protection of forest and wildlife, come forward for declaring their forest in to the community reserve and contact forest officials immediately in case of damage of their crop, properties and human life.
After the interaction, the programme concluded with vote of thanks by W Nokjak Konyak, Forest Range Officer, Tizit.
