Construct sidewalk, speed breakers on Green Park- Cricket Stadium stretch: DAYO

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO), on June 2,  has called for constructing proper sidewalk beside the road with necessary speed brakes at the earliest on the road stretch from Green Park to the Cricket Stadium.

It is the bounden duty of concern authorities, DAYO stated in a press release, maintaining that it is a necessity to mitigate the risk for the public.

For thousands of student community and pedestrians use the stretch daily, it highlighted.

As a high security zone with many future sporting destinations, it would be also for public welfare to have more surveillance camera at strategic locations, it added.

DAYO’s demands came at the backdrop of the unfortunate ‘hit-and-run case’ causing the “untimely death of a student of St Joseph University on May 25.

The Organisation is viewing the incident in all seriousness as a “tribute to the demise and to ensure that there is no re-occurrence of such tragic incident,” DAYO stated.

While appreciating the relentless effort made by the Nagaland Police to nab the absconding driver along with the vehicle, the DAYO called for reinvigoration of the case so that “thorough investigation is carried out its logical conclusion.” This would ensure justice for the victim as well as repose citizens’ faith in the rule of law, it added.
