‘Cosmos Kaleidoscope- Reseeding Pfütsero Town’ award ceremony held

The award ceremony of ‘Cosmos Kaleidoscope- Reseeding Pfütsero Town’ under the theme ‘My Beautiful Pfütsero’ took place here today under the aegis of Kalos Society in association with Nagaland’s Tourism Department, office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Pfütsero’ and Pfütsero’ Police.

Speaking on the occasion, Veyielo Doulo, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism Nagaland appreciated the efforts and principles of Kalos Society towards the well being of the society. He said that the state’s tourism department will work out formalities for inclusion of cosmos flower event as the annual calendar activity of Nagaland’s tourism.

Doulo also called upon the people to conserve nature, for which preservation of fauna and flora has to go together. He also called upon the people to maintain unity, saying that “everything is possible when there is unity.”

Delivering concept note, Weto Kapfo said that Pfutsero town is said to be one of the fastest developing and happening sub division in Nagaland.

He said that Pfutsero was once known as the land of cosmos, the colourful white, pink and maroon have adorned the landscapes of this town which flourished  grow and spread beautifully and vibrantly every autumn with its simple and exotic bliss since the 1960s.

During the prime days of Cosmos in the 1970s Cosmos filled this town and grow freely, vitally and invading almost every beautiful landscape majestically and exultingly.

He said that Kalos Society, a non- profit organization formed in 2005 at Pfutsero tasked to revive and reseed cosmos.

He said that to revive the once popularly known cosmos town which appeals the imagination of its citizens and nearby villages, the Kalos society planned out a mission to reseed Pfutsero and its adjoining areas.

Kewechelo Khape, Retd DEO also spoke on the occasion.

The function was chaired by Vikhrutuo Lea while vote of thanks was proposed by Kalos Society director Kupelhi Losou.

Several dignitaries including Pfutsero ADC Phuleshe K. Yepthomi, Chakhesang Public Organization president Mikha Kenye, government officials and public leaders graced the occasion.

The programme was followed by flower and photography exhibition.
