DIMAPUR, JUNE 17 (MExN): The Collective Leadership of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland has issued a reaffirmation statement committing itself to the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR). The statement signed by Gen Khole, President and N. Kitovi Zhimomi, Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN stated that the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), since its inception, has courageously strived to instil peace, unity and brotherhood among the warring Naga groups. “Reasoning among the Nagas, at all levels, has been aroused. We have faith and confidence in the FNR and we are committed to the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR)”, stated the duo.
It also informed about the emergency National Assembly held on 7th June, 2011 and how “espousing the socialist democratic principles enshrined in the National Yehzabo, the Tatar Hoho, in the interest of the Nagas”, former President, GPRN & Chairman, NSCN Mr. S.S Khaplang was impeached “for failing to abide by the National Yehzabo at a crucial hour”. It also stated that Khaplang’s “unilateral withdrawal from the Covenant of Reconciliation was a perjury against the Naga people for which the Tatar Hoho unanimously elected Gen. Khole, Commander-in-Chief, Naga Army, as the new President of the GPRN and also Chairman of the NSCN”.
“The Collective Leadership, as approved by the Tatar Hoho, shall endeavour to serve the Nation on the principle of self determination and freedom of the Naga people without which our existence as a people will ever be threatened”, it stated.

Western Sumi bodies meet Gen Khole

On invitation, the Western Sumi Hoho, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Western Sumi Totimi Hoho and Western Sumi Students’ Union on Friday met the GPRN/NSCN president Gen Khole, general secretary N. Kitovi Zhimomi and other leaders at their Council Headquarters Khehoi.
According to sources in the GPRN/NSCN, its president ‘Gen’ Khole Konyak affirmed to go all out to fulfill his lifelong desire of unifying the Nagas. He said it was an honour to be bestowed with the responsibility of leading the Nagas at his age. Gen Khole said he would pave the way for the younger generation and intellectuals to lead the Naga people after contributing his best to unify the Nagas.
Sources said that Gen Khole also apprised the NGOs of the circumstances that led to the impeachment of SS Khaplang, whose way of functioning had hampered the governance in numerous ways.
Further, the sources said that the GPRN/NSCN would be meeting other Naga NGOs to apprise them of the recent developments. It was learnt that the GPRN/NSCN had first met the Western Sumi organizations as their camp falls under the Western Sumi area where several unwanted rumours and misconceptions are spreading. “Therefore, our government felt important that all such misconceptions are first cleared in the vicinity,” the source added.
When contacted, WSH vice president, Zheshito Swu said the NGOs had a healthy discussion with the GPRN/NSCN leadership.
He said the GPRN/NSCN reaffirmed their commitment to the reconciliation process initiated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation.
The meeting was chaired by National Political Advisory Committee (NPAC) convener Azheto Chophy and attended by a host of kilonsers including Hothrong Yimchungru, C. Singson, Alezo Venuh, Hojeyi Swu and others.
