Kohima, November 14 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and Sphere India have announced that there will be a COVID-19 Academy for Nagaland soon.
The announcement was made during a virtual Health Coordination Meeting was organised by the NSDMA and Sphere India in collaborative partnership with Department of Health & Family Welfare and lAG (Inter Agency Group) Nagaland on November 11.
COVID-19 Academy is a virtual platform with 10 sessions for the frontline workers, non-governmental organization (NGOs), faith-based organisations (FBOs), and District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs).
The objective of the COVID-19 Academy is to develop scientific, technical knowledge and understanding about COVID 19 .amongst various stakeholders, an NDSMA release informed.
As per the WHO, in India, the academy was launched virtually as flagship learning initiative on COVID-19 preparedness and response in New Delhi on April 11, 2020.
The over arching aim of the COVID-19 Academy is to build capacities of civil society organisations and grassroot volunteers who play critical roles in COVID-19 preparedness and response, both at the community and health facility level. This is to equip them with knowledge and skills on how to protect themselves and deliver key interventions in response to the new virus, the WHO added.
