Nagaland recorded 221 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the total number of infections in the state to 7,240. 

According to the daily bulletin issued by the State's Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), 166 of the new cases were reported from Dimapur, 52 from Kohima and three from Mokokchung. 

However, the state also recorded 70 recovery cases as of 3:00 pm, October 12, of which 69 were from Dimapur and one from Longleng. 

As per the IDSP, 114 of the new cases were among armed forces/security personnel while 102 cases were attributed to traced contacts. Three returnees/travelers and two front line workers were also among the new positive cases. 

Among the active cases which now stands at 1,403, three cases were categorized as severe symptomatic, nine as moderate, and 41 as mild. 1,350 other cases were asymptomatic.

The state has registered 13 COVID-19 deaths, five deaths that were ‘not COVID related,’ and six deaths that are under investigation. 59 cases have migrated from the state.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority and Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan notified the sealing of the office of the Food & Civil Supplies Director for 48 hours, with immediate effect.

The sealing was ordered in order to take effective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the DC stated in his order. 

Any person violating the containment measures will be liable to be proceeded as per the provisions of Section 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section-188 of the Indian Penal Code, the DC cautioned.
