207 cases detected at a positivity rate of 33%

As the Nagaland government announced fresh COVID restrictions starting April 30, the State recorded 207 new cases on April 27, taking the total to 13,445. It was by far the highest single day score this year and also in the past 6-7 months.
The tally appears relatively low compared to the other larger states but the disconcerting aspect was the positivity rate. As per the State Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme’s COVID bulletin for the day, the 207 cases were detected from a total 625 samples, returning a positivity rate of 33 percent.
The positivity rate for the state on the whole was at 9.2 percent.
Dimapur accounted for 177 (107 returnees, 68 traced contacts, 1 frontline worker and security personnel) of the day’s tally. 13 were detected in Kohima (3 returnees, 9 traced contacts, 1 security personnel), 3 in Mokokchung (2 returnees, 1 security personnel), 3 traced contacts in Longleng, 1 traced contact in Mon, 1 security personnel in Peren and 9 traced contacts in Tuensang.
One more was added to the confirmed COVID-19 fatalities tally, which increased to 89. As per the data, the death occurred in Dimapur. Including 10 other deaths categorized as “not COVID related,” the total death toll stood at 99.
As on April 27, there were 874 active cases, 672 of which were concentrated in Dimapur. 593 of the active cases in Dimapur were asymptomatic, 57 mild, 9 moderate on oxygen, 11 severe on oxygen and 2 on ventilator.
Kohima’s share of active cases was 151— 142 asymptomatic, 6 mild and 3 moderate on oxygen.
Mokokchung had 19 active cases— 9 asymptomatic, 6 mild, 4 moderate on oxygen. Longleng had 8 active cases with 1 mild and 7 asymptomatic. Tuensang had 9 active cases with 1 mild and 8 asymptomatic. Peren had 2 with 1 asymptomatic and 1 mild.
Phek, Mon and Kiphire had 8, 4 and 1 asymptomatic cases, respectively.
Further, as on April 27, there were 792 positive cases placed under home isolation.
