The Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio has appealed the citizens to donate to the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) for combating the COVID-19 pandemic and assisting in immediate and long-term relief and recovery efforts.

 

“The COVID-19 pandemic marks an unprecedented time in modern history that will require the best of humanity to overcome,” Rio stated in the appeal posted on his official Twitter handle.   

 

“I appeal to each one of you to donate to Chief Minister Relief Fund. Your donation will support immediate and long-term relief and recovery in vulnerable communities in these challenging times we are collectively facing (sic),” he said.

 

All donations to CMRF are tax exempted as per Income Tax Act, Section 80 G, he added.  

 

In must be mentioned here that on March 26, the CMRF released a sum of Rs 38 lakh to all Deputy Commissioners as well as medical department of Nagaland for for exigency expenses to combat COVID-19 pandemic.

 

In a tweet, Rio informed that a sum of 20 lakh was also given to State Disaster Management Authority while the Naga Students Union, Bengaluru, DRC Nagaland House Delhi, Kolkata & Guwahati received 2 lakh each for exigency expenses to help displaced Nagas.
