COVID-19 vax, HIV/AIDS status highlighted in Wokha DPDB meet

Wokha, March 9 (MExN): A total of 1,925 persons have received the COVID-19 vaccination in Wokha district out of which 1,399 have taken the first dose and 526 have received the second dose.

Informing this during the Wokha District Planning and Development Board meeting on March 8, Wokha Chief Medical Officer CW Tungoe said that the vaccinated persons included health care workers, frontline workers, those between the age of 45-59 having comorbidities and those above the age of 60. 

The CMO also informed the house that from April 2020 to February 2021, the Department of Health & Family Welfare tested 4,236 persons for HIV/AIDS, out of which 36 were tested positive.

According to a DIPR report, the meeting which was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall was chaired by DC Orenthung Lotha who is also the board’s vice-chairperson.    

The house deliberated on metalling of DRDA road from Liphayan to Jonopur under the department of DRDA and development of Public Park at Tsumang Lake under Fisheries and Aquatic department. The two projects were recommended for onward submission to higher authority for approval, the report stated. The registration of Wokha, Humtso and Elumyo Senior Welfare Forum were also approved during the meeting.

Further, the report stated that the DC who is also the Chairperson of Wokha District Sports Council appealed to all the Head of Offices in the district to voluntarily contribute/provide free will donation to enable the district to participate in the forthcoming 21st Edition of Dr T Ao Inter-District Football tournament organized by Nagaland Football Association. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Kohima in the month of April 2021, it added.
