State registers 130 fresh cases; sample positivity at 15.37%,

Nagaland, on January 28, registered 4 deaths due to COVID-19, the highest single-day toll since September 17, 2021 even as detection of new positive cases increased from 111 on Thursday to 130 on Friday.
The State’s confirmed COVID deaths increased to 696, while 17 have been designated as ‘non-Covid deaths’ with COVID-19 positivity.
All the 4 fatalities reported today occurred in Dimapur, where 21 patients are currently admitted in the COVID Hospital and 619 are in home isolation, informed the daily COVID-19 bulletin published by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland.
Further, 5 patients– 3 in Dimapur and 2 in Kohima are in intensive care unit (on ventilator), the bulletin said.
Meanwhile, out of 846 samples tested on January 28, a total of 130 were positive, indicating a sample positivity rate of 15.37%.
As per the bulletin, out of 130 positive cases on Friday, 92 were detected during self or random tests, while 24 were ‘returnees/travelers’ and 5 were frontline workers. There were 6 cases among armed forces or security personnel while 2 were ‘traced contacts.’
Most of the cases were detected in Dimapur at 98, followed by 12 in Kohima; 3 in Mokokchung; 2 each in Longleng, Mon, Peren and Phek; and a single case in Wokha.
With this, the total COVID-19 caseload in Nagaland as of 6PM on January 28 stood at 34189, out of which 902 were active.
Among the active cases, 743 were asymptomatic while 146 were showing mild symptoms, the bulletin said. A total of 8 patients were ‘moderate on oxygen’ while 5 were in ICU on ventilators.
A total of 31193 persons have also recovered from the infection so far, including 63 on January 28.
Over 14.45 lakh doses administrated
Meanwhile, as per the vaccination data available on the CoWIN dashboard, as of 9 PM on January 28, a total of 14, 51,307 COVID-19 doses have been administrated in Nagaland.
Out of this, a total of 8, 41,034 were 1st dose while 6,09,463 were 2nd dose. A total of 10,810 precautionary doses have been administrated in the State as per the dashboard.
