The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) has declared the year 2026 as the “Year of Unity and Relationship building among the Chakhesang Community.” This was resolved during the 44th General Session of the CPO, held at Phek Town under the theme “Anchored in our values” on February 21.

The Resolution Committee recommended the need to strengthen the Chakhesang as a unified and reliable tribe within the Naga family.

To promote social integration and unity among the Chakhesang, all citizens shall uphold the decisions of the CPO Executive Council. ‘Failure to comply with the resolutions of the CPO may lead to action as per Chakhesang customary practices,’ the resolution stated which was communicated at the general session for approval by the resolution committee convenor, Kekhwengulo Lea.

On the Naga Political Issue, CPO strongly urged the Naga political groups to refrain from creating further splinter groups. Instead, the CPO appealed to all Naga Political Groups to reconcile in the true spirit of forgiveness and restore the undivided Naga movement to achieve “our collective goal.”

To prioritise primary and quality education as a means to combat social disparity and foster holistic human resource development, the CPO resolved to take decisive measures to eliminate the practice of proxy teaching in Chakhesang towns and villages, for which the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) is entrusted to strictly adhere to this resolution and direct all unit presidents for its full implementation.

The CPO shall continue to collaborate with the Chakhesang Scholars Forum (CSF) and the CSU in its effort to promote quality education in Chakhesang areas, the resolution stated.

On  Economic Development, the CPO resolved to urge all Chakhesang entrepreneurs and the general public not to allow benami businesses in towns and villages and to endorse the Village and Town Councils for proper implementation.

It resolved to encourage the Chakhesang community to initiate a “One Family-One Project” initiative in agriculture and allied sectors to boost economic sustainability.

The CPO Executives have been urged to initiate and set up an expert committee to prepare a master plan for the next 30 years towards economic independence.

The CPO reaffirms its commitment to firmly uphold the existing ban on the import of pigs into Phek District.

“However, in order to encourage local entrepreneurship and support Chakhesang piggery farmers outside Phek District, the import of pigs shall be permitted exclusively from Chakhesang-owned farms, provided that such imports are accompanied by a valid health certificate issued by the Veterinary Department,” the resolution stated.

All Chakhesang piggery farmers seeking to supply pigs to Phek District shall register their respective farms with the CPO.

The implementation and monitoring of this resolution shall be entrusted to the Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF)

Meanwhile, the 44th General Session of CPO reaffirms to uphold the resolutions endorsed during the 43rd General Session of CPO at Phek Town on 10th January 2025.
