Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): Crime rate in Dimapur district declined by approximately 60 percent, especially in extortion related cases, during the total lockdown period, Dimapur police informed on Saturday.
According to a press note from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur, during the period from May 5 to May 29, a total of 20 cases were registered in various Police Stations and 20 people were arrested in the district.
Of the cases registered, 6 were theft cases, 5 were extortion cases, 3 were cases under NLTP, 2 kidnapping and abduction, 2 robbery cases, 1 under Arms Act and, 1 was related to grievous hurt.
“Besides the enforcement of COVID-19 SOPs within the district, Dimapur Police has also been simultaneously carrying out intensive inter-state border patrolling especially in Niuland, Dhansiripar and West Zone areas,” the release stated.
Further, armed mobile escorts are being provided to transport trucks and intensive mobile, foot patrolling personnel are also deployed round the clock for prevention and detection of crime to ensure public safety, it added.
