Officials with participants of World Suicide Prevention Day at Sazolie College.
Kohima, September 18 (MExN): In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and Research Centre (CRIMHRC) Kohima, in collaboration with the National Mental Health Program (NMPH), held an awareness session on September 16 at Sazolie College, Phezhu, Jotsoma. The session focused on the theme “Changing the Narrative: Start the Conversation.”
The event highlighted that suicide is both treatable and preventable, emphasizing that saving lives requires a shared responsibility-from individuals regularly checking in on loved ones to communities building compassionate, safe spaces.
To actively engage the participants, the program concluded with an interactive Q&A session alongside psychometric evaluations designed to help students assess their emotional well-being, reinforcing the collective mission to destigmatize mental health and value every life.
