Kohima, September 18 (MExN): The First Aid Cell of Don Bosco College, Kohima (DBCK) in partnership with the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kohima Village, observed ‘World First Aid Day-cum-Thematic Adolescent Health and Wellness Day on Mental Health’ in College campus on September 18.
The DBCK Media Cell in a press release stated that expounding upon adolescent mental health, Dr Khriesino, Medical Officer at Kohima Village PHC-HWC, elucidated the neurochemical mechanisms underlying psychological well-being, stressing the imperative of rigorous sleep hygiene, physical rest and open interpersonal communication.
She additionally directed attendees to national support infrastructure, referencing the Tele-MANAS helpline (1-800-891-4416).
The session on emergency physical care incorporated clinical demonstrations illustrating standardized first aid management for epistaxis (nosebleeds), hand fractures, snake Envenomation, rabies risk from animal bites, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), arterial pulse detection, and thermal burn mitigation. She further addressed preventative oncology by detailing the efficacy of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine against cervical cancer, subsequently engaging the audience in a structured Q&A forum.
A health camp was organised at the Zatti Computer Centre, successfully tested 84 students and faculty members on Haemoglobin tests, blood sugar screenings, and iron tablets to the students and staff members.
The programme was chaired by Dr Pinky Sagolsem, Convenor First Aid Cell DBCK.
