Peren, January 10 (MExN): Beisumpuikam Students’ Union (BSU) celebrated its 25th anniversary on January 8 at Local ground, Beisumpuikam Village under the theme “Proclaim & Rise.” 


Namri Nchang, Advisor Water Resources, Government of Nagaland was the special guest, who regarded the people of Beisumpuikam village as united, despite having various society and high population.


He went on to say that God must be the priority for the citizen of Beisumpuikam. “Criticism shouldn’t be a hindrance to be successful person in life,” he encouraged.


On the subject, Namri said that “our culture, our identity, one’s language is a gift from God. No matter where you are and what you maybe, always remember your roots,” he added. 


As per a press release from BSU President Ireibam Pame, Iherie Ndang, Rtd SP & CEC Member of NDPP was the guest speaker.


He encouraged the students to be responsible on their part and understand the fatigue of parents. He abbreviated STUDENT as ‘Sincerity, Truthfulness, Understanding, Discipline, Efficiency, Nobleness, and Tidiness.’


He urged students to possess these qualities and enhance one’s knowledge by inculcating the habit of reading and learning new words’ meaning daily.


Earleir, Ireibam Pame, president BSU delivered the presidential and welcome address, where he acknowledged God for all the past leaders of BSU who have worked tirelessly “to make BSU what it is today.” 


Highlights of the event were Eulogy and candle lightning, cultural attire contest, indigenous games and sports like traditional fire making, greased pole climbing, bamboo stilt race, fats eating competition, tug of war which were held with an effort to retrieve identity and culture, added the release.
