Kohima, March 26 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary (CS) J Alam paid his maiden visit as CS to Zunheboto district accompanied by State Commissioner and Secretary Rovilatuo Mor on March 26.

According to a DIPR report, the CS held an interaction with the administrative officers, President of the Sumi Hoho and colleagues, at the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) residence.

The CS termed his visit to the district as part of a ‘familiarization tour’  to connect with the different tribes and all tribal Hohos of Nagaland, as there are many issues which can be curbed with the support of tribal apex organizations, the report informed.

The CS was of the view that the government and tribal Hohos should have an understanding with each other and work accordingly as there will be crucial times ahead. As such, he sought to gain the support of civil organizations.

While admitting that they may not be able to completely eradicate all the problems at a go, the CS assured that with the support of civil organizations, crucial problems can be resolved.

The Sumi Hoho President, Hekhushe Shikhu while speaking on behalf of Sumis, assured full support and added that their main objective was to coordinate with the government if it is for the welfare of all people. He shared some challenges and problems and requested the government’s help in resolving them ‘in good terms’.

Earlier the meeting was chaired by Zunheboto DC Peter Lichamo, who also proposed the keynote address where he shared some of the problems pertaining to the district.

The CS meanwhile elaborated his tour plan stating that he would head next to Mokokchung district via Lumami University, Wokha district and later to all other districts of Nagaland.
