Kohima, January 17 (MExN): Owing to few HODs of Phek district ignoring the plea of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) office, the apex tribal students union has reminded the erring officers to attend their respective offices immediately in view of the preparation for the upcoming 67th general conference of CSU. Failing to comply with the plea, the HOD concerned will bear the whole responsibilities in any case, according to CSU president Thupukutho Lohe. The 67th general conference of CSU will be held from January 20 to 22 at Khuza town to be hosted by ten units of Tizu area under the theme “Catalyst for reformation- culture and education.”
Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo will be the chief guest at the inaugural function while minister for PWD (roads & bridges) and parliamentary affairs Kuzholuzo Nienu will be the guest of honour. Minister for school education C.M. Chang will be the cultural guest while Neposo Theluo, Deputy Commissioner Phek will be introductory guest. Er. Dikhrolo Mero, chief engineer, PWD (R&B) will grace the valedictory function. Hüsazü Epao, principal, Patkai Christian College will be the resource person.
Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) president Tongpang Ozukum and Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Sovenyi will also extend greetings. K. Phesao, director school education (HS) will also exhort the gathering.
The conference will be marked by workshop on disaster management, cultural competition, union assembly, presentation of awards etc. There will also be award session during the conference. Lt. Goyiepra Kenye Memorial Award for HSLC toppers during the academic session 2012-2013, Lt. Niesatsü Khamo Memorial Trophy Award for folk dance winners, and Lt. Zekope Krome Memorial Trophy Award for folk song (Duet) winner.
With regard to the conference preparation, Tizu Area Public Welfare Organization (TAPWO) has acknowledged the concern shown by Kuzholuzo Nienu, minister PWD (Roads & Bridges) in the maintenance of roads from Phek Town to Khuza town and Sekruzu town to Khuza Town. The Organization also acknowledged the PD (R & B) Phek for providing necessary machineries and manpower. It also thanked the president and colleagues of CSU for initiating momentous programme in Tizu area with special concern to uplift the area.
