Supports construction of Foothill Road and providing border guards

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation) reached out to the suffering people, owing to land encroachment from the Assam side in the inter-states border areas and resultant road blockade enforced by the Ao Senden with effect from May 28, 2013 under Mokokchung district, with some essential commodities.

The team comprised of 30 members set out from Dimapur via Kohima and Wokha to Mokokchung on June 11, 2013 and had a joint meeting with Ao Senden and Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem separately and shared concern for the suffering people who have no road connectivity and essential services in the border areas.

In course of their visit, the DALT team meet Tzürangkong Senso Senden, Longchem Adhoc Town Committee, Saring Village Council. Despite the best effort to see all the villages in border areas, the team could not reached village like Akumen with relief material as there was no accessible motor road, because of that the team had a combined meeting with the village council members of Aonokpuyimsen, Tsüremmen and Akumen village. The team also visited Yajang ‘C’ and thereafter Tzüdikong and Tuli town where they meet the leaders of Tuli town and Tzüdikong Ad hoc Town Committee and shared concern for imperative need of a road in foothill to reach Dimapur from Tuli paper mill.

The team observed that the encroachment has taken place from Assam side inside the Nagaland with the overt and covert support of Assam government, whereas the poor Naga villagers are found to be defenseless without any logistic support and security from the state government. The team also observed the construction of Foothill Road and providing border guards, (not village guards) are immediate imperatives to safeguard the land and its people of Nagaland for future generations.

The team reached back Dimapur Friday.

The DALT President K Longri Imchen and General Secretary Meyatoba in a press release has expressed its gratitude and appreciations to all the individuals, families, organizations and churches  for their valued support in making the program a success.
