DIMAPUR, MARCH 26 (MExN): The ruling Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) party heading the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government in the State has come out strongly against the well publicized statement made by senior JD (U) MLA Huska Sumi who had charged that the NPF ‘superimposed its policy upon its minor partners’. The NPF in a strong rebuttal to Huska’s statement made it clear that the question of superimposition of policy of one party to another does not arise and instead reminded that DAN was a common platform representing the aspiration of the Naga people and “in which all are equal partners where mutual respect is maintained”.
“DAN is a conglomeration of NPF, BJP and JD (U). It’s a pre-poll alliance. Therefore we firmly believe that the best tradition of parliamentary democracy prevails among the partners”, NPF Press Secretary R. Paphino stated in a press rejoinder.
Paphino also clarified in response to a news-item appearing in The Morung Express in which Huska had leveled charges against the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on various points. The NPF pointed out that Huska’s allegation that Rio while mobilizing his strength “snatched away seven Congress and three NDM legislators and forced two JD (U) legislators to join NPF” was without any basis.
“I would like to advise my friend that members who are representing the people in the 10th Assembly are not commodities to be snatched away but they are all responsible leaders”, Paphino stated and made it clear that the question of snatching away or forcing any one to join another party under the present constitutional arrangement was out of the question.
On Huska’s criticism regarding the DAN government’s equi-closeness policy, the NPF reiterated that DAN was sincere and serious on this slogan. “It is an expression of the state of mind. If someone does not feel comfortable with this expression, it is his state of mind not to give equal treatment to all sections of the Naga people including the underground groups. DAN cannot force any body to accept this state of mind”, Paphino stated. Pointing out that even if a person does not accept the policy of the party or group to which he belongs, one should not blame others and the system.
