Darogapathar rape case: ‘Model for Justice’

Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): Naga Women Hoho today appreciated the state’s judiciary for delivering “expeditious justice” to victims of the Darogapathar rape and robbery case. The case should serve as a model in disposing other cases where real culprits or accused do not go Scot Free and unpunished, the hoho said in a note today. “Bravo to the court and the prosecution. This builds up the confidence and faith of the public in judiciary,” the hoho said. 

In particular the District & Sessions judge Dimapur Hukato Swu, came in for praise for acting without fear or favour and for disposing off the case expeditiously. It may be mentioned that the Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) had also conveyed its appreciation in regard to the judgment passed in Dorogapathar, Dimapur, rape case. It appreciated “the prompt delivery of justice” in the court of Hukato Swu, District and Session Judge, Dimapur.

Meanwhile the Naga Women hoho said that there are umpteen cases which have goes unnoticed and did not register as criminal case for the reason that they were nipped in the bud “by the investigation agencies for love of money.” 

“Many a times the honorable court show undue leniency in granting bail to the heinous crime offenders and at times they do not look with the compassionate heart on the deserving accused who might not have committed the offence in granting them bail,” the hoho said.

“The Darogapathar case ‘State of Nagaland Vs. Punato Zhimo & two others’ has been kept on constant vigil by the Naga Women Hoho and Nagaland State Women Commission. The instant case as the judgment and order shows, it has been disposed off expeditiously by the honorable Court of Shri. Hukato Swu, District & Sessions judge Dimapur: Nagaland and the prosecution have taken the entire responsibility to produce its witnesses in a time bound manner.”

The case has been done with without fear or favor “of any other pressure groups” the hoho said. “This should be a model in disposing other cases whereby the real culprits/accused should not go Scot free and unpunished. Bravo to the court and the prosecution. This builds up the confidence and faith of the public in judiciary,” it added.
