DC Kohima directs villages to submit VCM proposals

Kohima, April 6 (MExN): Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawellie has directed villages that are yet to submit village council member proposals for government approval to submit the same on or before April 15.

In a notification issued through the state DIPR, DC Thejawelie also notified the ADCs of Tseminyu and Chiephobozou; the SDO (C) of Jakhama, Sechu, and Sadar and EACs of Kezocha, Botsa, and Tsogin that the deadline for village council member proposals has been extended to April 30.

The notification further directed the aforementioned officers to issue necessary instructions to the villages under their respective jurisdictions to obtain declarations from all persons whose names are being forwarded for VCM, as per Section 16 (6) and 16 (8) of the Nagaland village and Tribal Councils Act, 1978. The declarations should state that proposed VCM member is not a salaried government servant and that they are not members of any other village council, it added.
