MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 9 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Abhishek Singh on July 6, 2007 convened a meeting to discuss the issue of illegal migrants in Mokokchung and the call given by Ao Students Conference (AKM) in this regard.
The members deliberated on the issue in great detail and appreciated AKM for highlighting this issue. As per the decision taken in meeting held earlier on May 28, 2007, it was resolved that the verification of ILPs and illegal migrants will be done by Administration only. In this regard, the following action is to be taken:
Deputy Commissioner’s Office will put up a list of all valid ILPs on the notice board. Any person having any information with regard to any person staying illegally without valid ILP should inform Deputy Commissioner’s Office so that necessary action can be taken immediately.
A committee is constituted with SDO(C) Mokokchung as the Convenor and Assistant Commissioner (UT), 3 NCS Probationers and 2 representatives from AKM which will study the system of issue of ILPs and suggested improvements therein. The Committee will submit its report by July 31, 2007.
In view of this, AKM was directed not to proceed with any checking of ILPs which as per Law can be done only by the Authority of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung. The meeting was attended by the President, Chamber of Commerce, President, Ao Senden, Chairmen of all wards, President and office bearers of AKM, representatives of Hindu and Muslim communities, SDO (C) Mokokchung , Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung and three NCS probationers.
