DC Mon issues advisory for schools and hostels on COVID-19

Mon, March 16 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS in an advisory for schools and hostels issued on March 13 stated that in view of the WHO declaration of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) outbreak as a pandemic, the following advisory has been issued as a preventive measure:

 

•    School authorities are advised to avoid any large gathering of students within the school.
•    The details of any student/staff with travel history to any COVID-19 affected country or those who may have come in contact with such persons in the last 28 days, should be immediately reported to the District Task Force for COVID -19, Mon.
•    Class Teachers should monitor any child with sign and symptoms ie, fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, and should immediately inform the parents to have the child tested.
•    Ask Parents not to send the child back to school till advised so by the treating doctor.
•    Teacher, School staff and Students must practice hand and respiratory hygiene.
Hand hygiene: Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water or use alcohol based hand sanitizer, even when hands are visibly clean.
Respiratory hygiene: Everyone should cover their mouth with a tissue/handkerchief (or their sleeves if there are no tissues available) when they cough or sneeze and wash their hands afterwards; Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth; Everyone should throw away used tissues in a bin and Wash their hands after contact with coughing/sneezing.
•    Frequently touched surface-door knobs, switches, desktops, hand railings, benches, tables, chairs, blackboards etc should be disinfected.
•    Provide alcohol based hand cleaners/sanitizer in the school.
•    Ensure availability of soap and water in rest rooms at all times.
•    Foot operated pedal bins lined with plastic bag should be provided in each classroom and restroom.
•    In hostel, health status of students as well as the other ancillary, staff should be monitored on regular basis.

‘No suspected case of COVID-19 in Mon’
The Chief Medical Officer, Mon Dr Kechongol Sophie has confirmed that there is no suspected case of COVID-19 being screened entering Mon or traced till date. Dr Kechongol, addressing the monthly Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting held on March 16 stressed on COVID- 19 and said that screening is going on in different gates and sensitization to all health workers, teachers and police are underway. 


A DIPR report stated that the DPDB meeting was at DC Conference Hall Mon, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Thavaseelan K, IAS.


Earlier, the board discussed on the financial assistance for 6th NAP Battalion Pipe Band and taking up SK Wangsa farm as Mon District recreational park and meeting picnic spot. The board recommended creations of Pharmacist/Nurse post in District Jail and registration of Wangnao Welfare Society. 


During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner handed over the prize to the winner of Painting Competition held under the theme “Plastic Free Sensitization Campaign.” Home Guard and Civil Defence and District Sericulture Office, Mon presented their departmental activities.

 

PTCSU request to keep vigil

The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) today requested the district administration, police personnel and all stakeholders to be alert and keep vigilant from any tourist or outsider travelling across the district as to keep precautionary measures in view of COVID-19. This was stated in a release issued by PTCSU president Surhoveyi Khesoh and press secretary Diezekho Vadeo.

 

Pughoboto medical officers informed 
Pughoboto Sub-Division Planning and Development Board meeting was held under the SDPDB, Pughoboto Chairman and MLA Y Vikheho Swu at the ADC Pughoboto office on March 16. The MLA directed all the medical officers of Pughoboto to be in their respective posting place to take preparedness and preventive measure on COVID-19. He advised the doctors to inform the symptoms of corona virus to the villagers so as to maintain hygienic with the use of hand sanitizer. He further informed all the officers to keep hand sanitizers in their offices. The house also approved to write a letter to Mission Director, SHAMAGRA SHIKSHA to put in priority list for the upgradation of Government High School Pughoboto to Higher secondary School.
