NSDMA forecasts widespread rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, across Nagaland
Kohima, July 14 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has forecast localised thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rainfall across several parts of the State between July 15 and 18.
According to an NSDMA weather advisory issued on Tuesday, localised thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall are likely over several districts on July 15, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected at a few places in Longleng and Mon.
Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
On July 16, however, the weather conditions are expected to improve over most districts with no major warnings for many areas. The Authority noted likelihood of light to moderate rainfall is likely at a few places in Kohima, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts, while scattered intermittent rainfall is also expected in Noklak and Zunheboto.
The advisory stated that localized thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rainfall are likely to affect Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Noklak, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts on July 17.
Residents, particularly those in landslide- and waterlogging-prone areas, have been urged to exercise caution.
On July 18, localised thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall are expected to continue over parts of the State, especially in Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts.
Light rainfall is also likely at a few places in Kiphire, Noklak, Peren, Phek and Shamator.
