DC Noklak issues advisories to ensure safety during heavy rainfall

DIMAPUR, JULY 12 (MExN): In view of the monsoon season, the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA, Noklak has highlighted a number of advisories to be exercised in order to ensure safety and well being of all. 

In the advisory, DC Noklak urged the public to stay informed, keep oneself updated about weather conditions and forecast. Avoid flooded areas and during heavy rainfall avoid wading through floodwaters and be extra cautious when crossing bridges or moving near water bodies. 

It also urged the public to be cautious while travelling, especially on roads that are prone to flooding or landslide and added that during heavy rains and reduced visibility, one should consider postponing one's journey until the weather improves. 

Stay away from power lines and be aware of the presence of electrical power lines and avoid approaching them, especially in wet conditions. Report any fallen or hanging power lines to the relevant authorities; look out for vulnerable individuals, keep an eye on the elderly, children, and people with special needs, it further urged. 

In case of any emergency or hazardous situation, the advisory urged the public to contact the relevant authorities immediately. Report incidents such as landslides, flooding, road damage, or fallen trees to the helpline number- 9863457055, it stated.
