Peren, November 12 (MExN): The district administrations of Peren and Wokha have also issued notifications to impose ban on sale and use of fire crackers in their respective districts during Diwali and other festivals from November 10 to January 31, 2021.
A notification from the home department stated bursting of fire crackers releases harmful chemicals which have server impact on the respiratory health of vulnerable groups and such pollutants further may prove hazardous for recovered as well as active COVID-19 patients.
It also stated that the imposition has been made in review of the increase in number of the COVID-19 positive cases in the state and with winter season approaching during which the elderly, children, persons with co-morbidities and others develop respiratory problems,
“Any person found violating this order shall be punished under relevant provision of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other relevant laws,” both DC Peren and Wokha stated in their respective orders.
