Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): An emergency meeting of the Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union (DDADU) was held on Saturday following a complaint that a female media person was harassed by an autorickshaw driver at 5th Mile on March 12.
Informing this in a press release, DDADU President Tito Yepthomi stated that the driver who is enrolled under DDADU “passed lewd remarks at her, compromising her dignity and morality as a woman.” Yepthomi said that the complainant also attended the meeting with all members of DDADU and the erring driver, and “the matter was resolved after the driver asked for forgiveness and came to an amicable agreement.”
Strict action will be taken as per DDADU guidelines and issues as such will be taken seriously if it were to happen again, Yepthomi asserted.
Further, stating that new guidelines and SOPs are yet to be issues by administration and RTO and autorickshaw rates would remain the same, the DDADU President cautioned that overcharging of fares by drivers would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against defaulters. He further requested all public to complain to the union if any problems or issues arise.
