Says public safety has been compromised
DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (MExN): The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) has submitted a complaint against TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd which is working on the four lane construction from Purana Bazaar to Choumoukedima “for not providing serviceable road for the public.”
The complaint submitted in the name of the Working President, DDCC, Kikhevi Thomi said that the “road construction currently being carried out from Purana Bazar to Choumoukedima is not serviceable for the commuters.”
It pointed out that the road has big pot holes with no safety measures, thereby causing immense hardship to the public while driving on the route between Purana Bazaar and Choumoukedima . “The surrounding of the areas from Purana Bazar to Choumoukedima is thickly populated and hence the contractor concerned has not taken any preventive step for the dusty and muddy roads, as the said contractor while carrying of construction of the road is not watering during morning and evening hours to prevent from the dust,” it alleged.
The DDCC added that “verbally the person concerned present in the site was informed about the matter but they kept a deaf ear.” As a result, it claimed that several accidents have occurred.
It further reminded that an application was submitted to the Dimapur DC’s office on April 16, 2019 regarding the matter. However, the DDCC lamented that construction works have carried on without providing safety on the road or preventing the dust.
It urged the DC to issue notice to the firm and give direction to maintain safety measures while carrying the construction works along the particular stretch. “In the event of failure to comply with the direction given by this office, T.K. Engineering Consortium Pvt. Ltd shall be responsible for any untoward incident/accident,” the DDCC stated.
