Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) organised a one day Workshop/Training for Gaon Buras and Dobashis at the Deputy Commissioners Conference Hall, Dimapur on July 27.
During the same, the participants were imparted knowledge on the Rules of Administration of Justice and Police, 1937, and the Nagaland Village Councils Act, 1978, a press note informed Zuchumpeni Ngullie, Panel Lawyer DDLSA, and Glory Sema, Panel Lawyer, NSLSA were resource persons at the workshop.
Queries were fielded during the discussion session on topics ranging from Article 371-A of the Constitution to proposals for the framing of service rules of Dobashis, it said.
Summing up the programme, Ajongba Imchen, Secretary DDLSA and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, reminded the GBs and DBs that the village councils had a statutory mandate to act as an auxiliary to the district administration, it added. Furthermore, he encouraged the participants to discharge their duties keeping in mind the welfare of the public.
The programme was chaired by Khumchuba Chang, Panel Lawyer DDLSA.
Discipleship Bible College
The DDLSA also conducted a dual programme comprising of an essay competition on fundamental rights and duties and a legal awareness session at Discipleship Bible College, Dimapur.
The first prize for the essay competition was won by Imsumenla Lemtur (M. Div. III) while Vekuhu Nakhro (B. Th. II) and Supongtsungba Longkumer (M. Div. III) claimed second and third respectively.
The legal awareness programme was attended by the entire student body of 250 students saw the panel advocates of the DDLSA Vishile Yeptho, Zuchumpeni Ngullie and Sentimenla speaking on the functions of legal services, cyber-crime and domestic violence.
Ajongba Imchen, Secretary DDLSA and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, enlightened the students on the RTI Act and its significance on good governance.
Rev. O. Alem Ao, Principal of Discipleship Bible College, delivered the welcome address in which he expressed happiness that an opportunity had been created for the students to learn about the legal system.
