Delimitation within the dist: Wangyuh

Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): Nagaland Member of Parliament to Lok Shaba and Associate Member to the Delimitation Commission of India, W Wangyuh Konyak today said that the name of the constituency will remain the same and that the Delimitation Exercise will be within the district basing on the conveniences of the administration and the public.

“The principal Delimitation Commissioner on Delimitation issue is that the name of the constituency will remain the same,” said a press statement issued Kedi Haralu, Press Secretary to the MP.  “Delimitation Exercise will be within the District basing on the administration convenience and as per public convenience,” said Wangyuh and added that ‘till the seat is increased Nagaland will go to poll, as of now’.

Wangyuh said that after draft publication by the Delimitation Commission, it will be published in all the local papers and will also be sent to the Government of Nagaland, all DC of districts, tribal Hohos, NGOs such as Naga Hoho, NSF etc, and political parties for public debate and criticism.

“The suggestion of each and every citizen of the State will be considered and examined thoroughly,” assured Wangyuh in the press note provided by the PS. However, Wangyuh said that the Delimitation Bill cannot be discussed or published now, as it is not relevant and pointless at this period of time, since the ‘next sitting on the Delimitation Bill Commission’ will be on July 16.  Replying on the allegation of the JAC, the pro Delimitation lobby comprising of eight tribes, that the state Associate Members are biased and representing their own tribes and districts, as alleged by the JAC earlier on July 1, Wangyuh clarified that though he belongs to the Konyak community, he as an MP in the Lok Sabha represents the state of Nagaland. In this regard, Wangyuh said that the issue of tribalism as an Associate Member in the Delimitation Commission of India does not arise; he said that the same applies for the other members like Neiwang Konyak, TN Manen and others.

“Associate Members of Delimitation Committee from Nagaland has been put as per the virtue of Seat. Plus TN Manen being the Chief Election Officer is also an Associate Member as per his virtue of seat and post,” said Wangyuh and added that there should be no confusion for the sole duty of the Associate Members is to clarify and take care of the Naga public.

“Hence running from post to post is just a waste of is just a waste of time and effort and energy,” said Wangyuh.
