Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): Calling for reconciliation and unification among the Nagas, the Ex Angh and Ex Tatar of NSCN (IM) United Sangtam Region (NSCN (IM), S Tsilise Sangtam today said that the people must be united in purpose for an envisioned common future for a dignified existence of the people which can be achieved by denouncing all forms of violence and anti-national activities and politics and take up the tasks of rescuing the political aspirations of the people.
S Tsilie Sangtam in a press release said that it is his heartfelt desire for the ancestral Naga land to be unified into one geo-political entity.
“The Naga political nation did not originate out of any nation or state. It should be understood that Naga sovereignty lies with the Naga people alone,” said Sangtam. He said that Nagas are for sovereignty, ‘their birth right’.
“It should therefore be left to the will of the Nagas to decide how they chose to exercise their sovereign rights,” said Sangtam.
Decrying killing among the Nagas, Sangtam said it will not bring about any positive results. “Killing among us will not bring any positive solution rather it causes infliction and hatred. If we are really struggling for our goal, lets us stop killing each other. The first war of India Independence of 1857 failed due to lack of organisation and unity.”
In this regard, Sangtam called for unity and reconciliation for attaining a dignified existence.
“We must bury the past, heal the wounds, rebuilt the damaged and renew our trust and faith. We have to unite in purpose for an envisioned common future essential for the dignified existence of a people. The only key to attain our goal is by denouncing all forms of violence and anti-national activities and politics and to unitedly take up the common task in rescuing our political aspiration,” Sangtam said.
