The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted likelihood of ‘Dense Fog’ over Nagaland and most north eastern states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next three days.
The All India Weather Forecast Bulletin issued by the IMD at 4:30 pm on December 27 observed that there would be ‘Rainfall/thundershower’ at many places in Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, as well as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, on Tuesday.
It also predicted dense fog in isolated pockets over most of the north east region including Nagaland and other states like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan, and Odisha on December 28 and 29.
In terms of precipitation, it predicted that there would be isolated rainfall over parts of the northeast region from December 27 to December 31, with a few dry days in between.
Over the next few days, it said gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C was likely over plains of Northwest India during next 3 days and fall by 2-4°C thereafter.
Fall in minimum temperatures by 3-5°C likely over many parts of East India during next 3 days and no significant change thereafter, it stated while adding that there is “No significant change in minimum temperatures likely over rest parts of the country during next 4-5 days.”
From January 1 to 3, the IMD stated that mainly dry weather would likely be seen over most parts of the country except isolated light rainfall over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and light rainfall/snowfall over higher reaches of Arunachal Pradesh.
Dense fog and cold wave conditions likely in parts of Northwest India, it added.
