Kohima, March 21 (MExN): The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department (Administrative Reforms Branch) on Saturday issued a string of guidelines aimed at safeguarding the wellbeing of government employees in the state.
In an office memorandum, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy directed all the government departments at the Secretariat, Directorate as well as District Level Offices to bar entry of visitors in their respective office complexes. Issue of visitors/temporary passes are to be suspended and only those visitors who are “granted specific permission by the officer they want to meet, should be allowed entry after being properly screened.”
It also discouraged ‘non-essential official travel’ and directed that meetings, as far as feasible, should be held through video conferencing.
The Chief Secretary also directed all offices to ensure proper cleaning and sanitization of the workplace, particularly the frequently touched surfaces and provide regular supply of hand sanitizers, soap and running water in the washrooms. It also provided a list of Do’s and Don’ts focusing on safe hygiene practices.
Employees who are at higher risk, i.e. older employees, pregnant employees and employees who have underlying medical conditions, were reminded to take extra precautions. Departments may take care not to expose such employees to any front-line work requiring direct contact with the public, the notification read.
