DGC faculty equipped with ICT & modern teaching practices

Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): Dimapur Government College under the initiative of IQAC held a one-day faculty development programme on use of Information and communication technology (ICT) and modern teaching practices on September 14.  

Er Sanchamo Yanthan and Er Sudipto Patowary of IT Department, NU-SET were the resource persons. In the first session, Er Yanthan dwelled on the basic steps of Information and communication technology with tips on PowerPoint presentation.  

He also provided practical information on Google apps which can be used for accessing information and to reduce clutter created by external storage devices as well as for storage of information. The first session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr T Jamedi.  

In the second session, resource person, Er Patowary conducted a practical session with the participants on Google Classroom. He also interacted on the practicalities of the virtual classroom and encouraged the faculty to go beyond the theory in order to give the next generation the edge that only knowledge of technology can provide. Assistant Professor Zanthungo Ngullie was the moderator for the session.  

The chairperson, Khieo Rutsa, Associate Professor in Education opened the programme by stressing on the importance of using available technology to enhance and supplement the teaching-learning process.  

Principal DGC, Kavili Jakhalu, supplemented the chair's address by speaking of the need for teaching techniques to keep pace with the advancements everywhere else in the modern scenario.  

She concluded that a technological gap exists between teachers and students and the remedy requires upgradation of teaching methods and a major change in the existing mindset of teachers towards modern teaching methods.  

Dr Vitosie Vupru, IQAC Co-ordinator, gave away the certificates and Dr Maongkala Longchar pronounced the vote of thanks.
