The Young Indians (YI) celebrated its annual day last evening at Hotel Legacy, Bayavu Kohima, under the theme “Fostering an Entrepreneurial Eco System”.
Addressing the gathering on the theme, Aotoshi, Chairman CII Nagaland Chapter, stated that young entrepreneurs have adopted a different approach in establishing enterprises in their own chosen field, due to certain reasons. The chairman said entrepreneurial ecosystem simply refers to number of elements which may be the individual, institutions, and organizations that surrounds the entrepreneur which would allow an entrepreneurship to succeed. “It has been realized that Economic growth is not synonymous to non-development, thereby CII adopted sustainable development and with all the changes in the approaches, there is a change in the business system”, he said. Asserting that Nagaland environment is fragile, and therefore the land availability cannot be utilized for productivity and pointed out the need for minor forest product.
Aotoshi also stressed on the need to expose our land to habitat and environment friendliness needs. He stressed on the fact that Nagaland being away from the main market might prove to be a threat and opportunity to someone, and therefore advised to look for alternative manufacturing process sources. On the banking system, the chairman said though the banks are encouraging, yet, non payment of loans are depriving other genuine people from availing loan. He opined that as education is limitless, there is a need to enter into a dialogue, to be conscious and create user friendly enterprise which is robust, dynamic and ever evolving.
Commissioner & Secretary, Mhonbemo Patton, said by 2020, India will have 50% of the World force in the world and said one has to look in an holistic manner as any policies has its impact. Asserting that unemployment issue in the state is huge, he said it should be ‘our’ strength as employment is going to be the much trust in the coming plan putting in more to encourage those skilled persons. Patton, said that any problem can be an advantage only if facilities, amenities for economic activities can be provided as that will turn the lowest disadvantage to the greatest advantage. He urged the participants to harness their potentials, minerals, wealth and to create urban centre as efforts will bring tangible solution.
Neichute Duolo, of Entrepreneurs Associates said that Market economy is what the centre government sees to respond against the ‘poors’ in Nagaland and said opportunities and wealth should be created. If a person desires entrepreneurship, Duolo said adding that one should have good attitude and should do away with extortion as a useless problem. He lamented that electricity is another issue that hampers the business and also lack on inflow of credit, pulls down entrepreneurship. He said that the basic skills of being polite and knowledge of business language is a weapon to grow more by realizing which is already being realized.
Commissioner Secretary of Industries, Thangi Manen in her brief address said real industry in the state is not possible due to the limited sources, except for micro, small industry or medium enterprise. The commissioner secretary urged the YI members to give more time on the people at rural areas and nurture them and to show them what they can do at their own capacity. She pointed out that Nagaland lack public opinion, be it good or bad and suggested to conduct an orientation programme with the YI to know more about the central and state schemes.
Atreyee Borooah, from Guhawati also highlighted the activities of YI in national perspective Outgoing Chapter Chair, Rozelle Mero, refreshed the past activities the YI has initiated.
The YI Nagaland chapter 2012-2013 is being taken over by Bendangsangba Imchen, managing director & co-founder of Elysium Tech Pvt.Ltd, Nagaland-based IT company while the Co-Chair, YI Nagaland Chapter 2012-2013 is Zaren odyuo, the general manager of Tribal Group who also established the brand name “Gravity’ in Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung. It may also be mentioned that Tribal Group which is his brainchild, has generated employment to over 100 local youths.
