DIC holds awareness program on PMKSY

Kohima, November 23 (MExN): An awareness program on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) was organized by the department of Industries & Commerce (DIC) at Hotel Japfu Kohima on November 22. The program was sponsored by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and attended by about 120 participants, a press release form DIC informed.  

In his keynote address Nyuthe, Joint Director (DIC) informed that the GoI has approved a new Central Sector Scheme – Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) with an allocation of Rs. 6,000 crore for the period 2016-20 coterminous with the 14th Finance Commission cycle. The scheme will be implemented by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana is a comprehensive package which will result in the creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlet. It will also help in providing better returns to farmers and is a big step towards doubling of farmers income, reducing wastage of agricultural produce, increasing the processing level and enhancing the export of the processed foods. He earnestly requested the entrepreneurs to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes for the general benefit of the state’s developmental progress in this sector.  

The resource persons Bodevei Shuya, deputy Director of Agriculture and Meyasashi, deputy Director of Horticulture highlighted the vast potentials of utilizing the available Agri & Horti resources of the State; the FPI Cell from the Directorate of Industries & Commerce presented the details of the Scheme.
