Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): The Dimapur Area Ao Baptist Churches and Ao Civil Societies banded together to boost the morale of frontline workers through prayers and meals.
In a press release on Tuesday, Convenor Supu Jamir and Secretary Imti Jamir noted that besides limitations of infrastructural requirements or medical exigencies, the difficulties and challenges faced by frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic are immense and that “Any of their problems if not addressed positively will lead to the overall collapse of the healthcare system.”
It said that the committee decided to provide lunches on behalf of the Ao community, for frontline workers (medical fraternity) in all COVID dedicated hospitals and Centers in Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Medziphema, to boost their morale and to show that the citizens are also concerned for their well being.
As such, the committee provided lunch and prayers at CIHSR on May 29, and the Dimapur District Hospital, CMO, Eden Hospital, Faith Hospital, Zion Hospital, Olive Hospital, Nikos Hospital, COVID Care Centre Chümoukedima, and COVID Care Centre Medziphema on June 1.
Stating that the lunches were prepared by volunteers from various churches in and around Dimapur, it expressed hope that more such contributions would continue in the fight against the pandemic in Dimapur and beyond. 'Meal for COVID Warriors' programme will continue in all the COVID Hospitals and Care Centres in Dimapur for some more days, it added.
