The Muru Infra Developers organized a certification ceremony of the recently concluded Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Type 4 project at Hotel Saramati on Tuesday.

The project is being implemented by Muru Infra Developers under guidance of Department of Labour, Government of Nagaland.

Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba Jamir, who graced the occasion as special guest, said that even after 58 years of statehood, Nagaland state is still a “salaried economy.”

The Advisor said that for decades, revenue generation in the state has been hampered due to various factors including the unresolved Naga political issue.

Due to lack of industries and skill development and entrepreneurship, most of the educated youth seek government jobs to provide them security, Imnatiba said.

Stressing on skill development and entrepreneurship as an alternative to government jobs, he said Nagaland has enough resources including human resources to advance economically.

He said RPL project, an initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development, would go a long way in encouraging Naga youths to venture into construction and other skills.

Imnatiba also said that through RPL, genuine beneficiaries can avail various welfare schemes including social security and health insurance.

Project officer, Department of Labour, A Chubayanger, informed that in the first phase of the RPL project, the department would assist 1,500 construction workers in Dimapur district to avail welfare schemes such as life insurance, accident insurance, health insurance and financial support towards education of workers’ children.

Earlier, Director, Muru Infra Developers, Vikali A Zhimomi underscored the importance of quality over quantity when it comes to assessment of workers.

Vikali said Muru Infra Developers which ventured into skilling industry since 2019, had tremendous success in recognizing the skilled workers in and around Dimapur and helping them avail benefits and services rendered by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and also the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB).

She also said that Muru Infra Developers is the only firm in Nagaland recognized by NSDC and Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI) to undertake the RPL project.

RPL programme is basically assessment of skilled labour in the field of construction to recognize their skills based on the curriculum set by the NSDC. Through this programme the construction workers are also registered under NBOCWWB whereby they are entitled to certain benefits besides labour card.

Project manager Muru Infra Developers, Er Jepito Khala presented a slide show of the recently concluded RPL project.
