One more life was claimed in another fatal road mishap at the Dimapur-Chümoukedima 4 lane, NH 29. The victim was a Dimapur police personnel returning home from work.
According to the police, the accident occurred at the 2 ½ Mile-Darogapathar junction at around 7:30 am. The motor-cycle he was riding was reportedly hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle, which fled the scene.
The police added that a case was registered and was on the lookout for the suspected hit & run vehicle.
The deceased was a 43 year-old constable attached to the office of the Commissioner of Police.
This is the second road accident in two days where lives have been claimed. On December 13 two persons were killed in a tragic road mishap in Dimapur. The mishap occurred around 3:30 pm near the Bosco Vocational Training Centre, 3rd Mile, Dimapur.
According to the police, the two victims were on a bicycle when they were hit by a Maruti Van. The police said that the driver of the van surrendered to the police.
