Dimapur excise seize IMFL, one arrested

Dimapur, September 22 (MExN): A team of Dimapur District Excise personnel on September 21, intercepted a Kohima bound truck carrying 515 cases of assorted Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and arrested one person in this connection.

According to a press release from the Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur, informed that the team manning the Chümoukedima check gate had received an ‘intelligence tip-off,’ based on which a truck bearing registration number AS01 KC 6831 was frisked. The team recovered the IMFL consignment concealed under bags of cement and arrested one David Gour, a resident of Khatkati, Assam, it said.

The arrested person has been booked under the relevant sections of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989, it added.

Further, the release stated that efforts are on to pre-empt such illegal trafficking of contrabands and surveillance and vigil have been heightened across all sensitive checkpoints.
