Dimapur, March 15 (MExN): The Dimapur District Excise seized three major consignments of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) on separate occasions between March 12 and 14. According to an update from Dimapur Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition on Monday, Excise duty party manning the Chümoukedima Excise Checkgate intercepted two trucks bound for Manipur on March 14. On frisking the vehicle, the duty party recovered 1,006 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under several bags of fish feed, the update informed.
In another incident on March 12, the same duty party manning Chümoukedima Excise Checkgate intercepted a truck and on frisking the vehicle, recovered 288 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under bags of essential commodities.
In this connection, the three accused namely, Lairenlakpam Manikanta Singh (38 yrs), Ajit Singh (30 yrs) and Laishram Bijoy Singh (32) all residents of Imphal, Manipur were arrested and penalised under relevant punitive sections of NLTP Act 1989, the update stated.
