Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): The Dimapur District Excise duty party manning Chümoukedima checkgate recovered 200 cases of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and arrested one person in this connection.
According to an update from Dimapur Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition T Arilong Longkumer, based on an intelligence tip-off, the team intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL 07A 6219 and recovered the banned IMFL which were concealed under various essential commodities.
The arrested person, identified as Didarul Islam (33), a resident of Surupathar in Golaghat district of Assam, disclosed that the consignment was loaded at Guwahati and was bound for Imphal, the updates stated. The accused was later penalised under the NLTP Act. It also stated that there has been an increase in the frequency and intensity of liquor trafficking along the NH 29 which remains an important transit route for the traffickers.
