Dimapur: LEDP on shoe and basket making commences

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID), Dimapur has commenced the Livelihood & Enterprise Development Programmes (LEDP) on shoe and basket making supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Regional Office, Nagaland. 

A press release stated here that the first batch training started on October 6 in Naga Colony, Burma Camp. It will be conducted for 45 consecutive days for three batches comprising of 90 members. 

The launching programme was moderated by Aobendang, SHG Animator, Dimapur. Sr Pramila Lobo UFS, ACID Director in her welcome address said that LEDP aims at creation of sustainable livelihoods amongst Self Help Group members.  

The LEDP was represented by HC Biswas AGM, Kusekar AM and Rahul Tiwari DA, NABARD, Regional Office, Nagaland. 

Rahul Tiwari, DA, NABARD shared to the participants that LEDP is mainly for sustainability of the group. It is for inclusive growth to start their own business, to make more self dependent, so that they will not depend on others. He also explained social security schemes like, PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY and Sukanya Samridhi Yojana for girl child.

HC Biswas, AGM, NABARD explained that the skills that they are learning should be enhanced and upgraded so that they would not only remain with the group formation but also learn to be self dependent and learn new skills for the development of the individual and the group.

The resource persons for the training include Senenya, Rosenseninla, Nyanbeni and Veronica the ACID Serene members.
