Dimapur, May 25 (MExN): The GB Union Dimapur (GBUD) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has requested the Food & Civil Supplies Department to ensure that the free rice distribution scheme under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) is carried out in a timely manner for the next month.
In a joint press release on Tuesday, it appreciated the department for issuing the rice for free to the card holders and beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the month of May, and said that timely distribution has immensely reduced the hardships faced by the poor section of the society due to various difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It also urged the citizens to be more sincere and continue following the government guidelines/norms to contain the infection and spread of the virus.
