Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Police have made several arrests during the past few days for extortion, kidnapping and theft.
Dimapur Police on August 19 apprehended one person, Kiliangtsungbo Newmai at Sunday bazaar, Railway colony, Dimapur for extorting tax from food vendors. A total of 22 nos of spasmo proxvon and a cash of Rs 230 were recovered from his possession, the Dimapur Police PRO informed in a press release. In this connection, a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, it added.
On August 19, one person, Rokermangyang Ao (48), identified as Captain of NNC (Non-accordist) was arrested for extorting money from vegetable vendors at Sunday bazaar, Netaji colony, Dimapur. A sum of Rs 1560 was recovered from his possession. In this connection, a case has been been registered at East Police Station, the release also informed.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Women Police on August 19 rescued a person at Kaziranga Bali, Assam, who was reportedly kidnapped on June 24 from Xikiye village under Kuhoboto Police Station. The accused identified as one Zakhiruddin (26) was arrested. A case has been registered at Women Police Station.
Further 2 persons, namely Obeto Awomi (31) and Ngukato Achumi (25) were apprehended by the public on August 21 for theft. A stolen motorbike (Pulsar 150 cc), 2 grams of suspected brown sugar and six nos of spasmo proxvon capsules were seized from their possession. In this connection, the PRO release informed that a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
